Summary | 0001073: Use of an highID peer as a bridge to connect two 2 low ID peers
Description | Often one has no access to the firewall of its hosting LAN. In such case it's impossible to open proper ports and setup the network to become an HighID peer (or a non firewalled KAD peer). If that is the case it may be difficult to download some files. It would be useful a version of aMule that uses an highID peer to connect two lowID peers, so that they would be able to exchange chunks as the highs are. An alike solution has already been implemented in neomule, where it is called NAT traversal and works in a similar way to UDP hole punching.

If two low id amule computers A and B use an high-id user C in order to connect, all the traffic from A to B and from B to A have to go to C and return. In other words, The data transmited from A to B goes from A to C and then from C to B, and vice-versa. That is: A and B are leechers thar are using the upload and download bandwidth of C, and this bandwith is not useful for C. |
