Summary0000746: wrong/fake name indication: mark file, when name is different than most often
DescriptionOften a hash is known with several different names. But one or two names are known clearly most often. I would suggest to split the most often known name into part strings and compute how many of these part strings are in a search result name. If it's not much (e.g. under 50%) that's an indication for a wrong/fake name, and the search result (and the file in download queue) should be marked es "possibly fake". User should also have the ability to look at the different names of a search result.
Additional InformationFeature request one day after release - nice I am ;) Thanks for the release!

After having implemented multiple filenames for search-results, it doesn't seem very feasable to implement this. You rarely get more than a couple of different names, most of which (in my experience) are just variations of the common filename. Why dont you compile a CVS snapshot, take a look, and tell me what you think?

Ok thanks, but I will wait with testing, due to Kry's todays warning about current tarballs ("VERY VERY dangerous").

Xaignar, what do You mean with "multiple filenames for search results" ? Where do I find them ? Cannot see multiple filenames in search result list on cvs-2006-06-24. But when downloading a file from the search result list and then right clicking on that file in download list and choos file details then there are shown other names for that file.

Mutiple names only show up for kad searches and global searches. When a search-result has mutiple names, you will see a blue dot to the left of the name. Double-clicking on the name will expand it (like sources for files) and you can then see the known names for the files.

The problem is that you generally only get a few widely spread names, since the servers only store a single name to my knowledge. Already downloading files, on the other hand, is able to give a more accurate picture, since all sources report the name of the file as they see it.

As described in the previous comments, it is not feasble to implement this, so I'm marking this as "not fixable".

Cheers.
