I suspect the crash might be related to compatibility issues between aMule’s wxWidgets 3.0 dependencies and the wxGTK 3.2 libraries installed on my system. I tried to install the libwxgtk3.0-gtk3-dev package manually but it is not available in the repositories for Linux Mint 22.

There are no more http addresses, so everytime it starts it brings an error message, so the autorefresh serverlist at startup option, has to be disabled.

0001818: Breaking and crashing the application when double clicking on a file to start its download

From the file search for download tab, when you double click, the files are automatically added to the download section and begin downloading. Well, when doing that with a specific file it gave me an error (I attach a copy of the dump) and it was blocked, preventing any interaction with the program. After a reasonable waiting time, I decided to kill the process and return. to restart the application.

I have my amule set to have temp and incoming folders in different partitions. This is on a Fedora 10 system. However, I noticed that when finishing a file, the file seems to be shared normally, and everything seems OK, but if I click the button to rescan shared files, it will rehash the files it has finished in this session. The following log explains it better (I renamed the file and hid part of the hashes to protect the innocent Cheesy):

Notice that I first scan shared files, and it says there are 313 files. Then, the file "myfile.rar" finishes downloading at 22:07:54 and starts hashing. At 22:08:10 the file is complete in the incoming folder. But then at 22:08:21 I click on rescan shared files, and now I have only 312 shared files (1 less than before) and an unknown file, which happens to be the recently finished file. Just in case it matters, the folder where my file is moved, is not the main incoming folder, is another folder, and is moved there by using categories.

0001814: aMule crashes on system clock jump (e.g. when computer awakens from sleep).

When `amule` runs, and the system clock does has a bigger time shift (at least to the future), `amule` crashes.

Those timeshifts happen e.g. already if the system is at sleep/ suspend to disk, but can also happen due to timezone change/ daylight saving time change.

This crash seems to be a sign of something going out of track and can even be a security issue.

Details:

* When I start `amule`, and then set the system clock to 6 hours in the future (simulating a 6 hours system sleep), on the terminal the following output appears:

I use amule version 2.3.3, [installed from Artix Linux](https://gitea.artixlinux.org/packagesA/amule [^]).

(Note that I am not familiar at debuggin, nor can I recompile `amule` with debugging symbols because compilation fails on my machine. I am just an average user with GNU/Linux command line and administration skills.)

0001817: Store ed2k hash usign xattr in the filesystem

If shared files are stored in filesystem that support xattr (extended file 0attributes) then store the ed2k hash and a timestamp (of last hash check) using the xattr provided by fs

Example:

Amule only need to re-hash if modification time of file is grater than user.ed2k-timestamp.

Before 2.3.3 I used some SVN version from Ubuntu repository where UPnP worked well. But today after update to 2.3.3 I found it is not forwarding ports as it should and as is was in a lot of previous versions.

Sometimes, the upnp client in amule fails to detect the upnp port to contact the router. as you can see in the log file below, the client tries to connect to the port 49152 to get the ipcfg.xml. this fails because the router is using 49153 now. It can happen that instead sometimes it selects the right port, but if it fails one time, then it's not recoverable and I have to reboot the router

aMule 2.3.3 keeps leaking memory (albeit at a slow rate) over weeks and eventually get killed by OOM. A similar Github issue was filed by others at https://github.com/amule-project/amule/issues/314. [^]

Running aMule Git rev. on Manjaro Linux KDE Plasma desktop using Wayland as the compositor instead of X11. Right clicking on the tab in the Downloads section to filter the list of downloads (downloading, active, waiting, stopped etc) or to add a category does not allow selection of any options. Receiving the following error messages when run from a terminal:

After Linux 5.13 computer freeze amule fails to start:

after checking ~/.aMule/logfile, among las lines was:
Error creating UDP socket 0.0.0.0 58291 : Address already in use
MuleUDPSocket: Failed to create valid Server UDP-Socket

this port was used by another app and after i killed that app, the amule started, though i think this is a bug and program should not crash and instead report the issue in STDOUT or suggest where to change this port to something else or such.

I do not know why, but I found some pointers or titles in /var/tmp to some of files I have been downloading. I even have TMP defined to ~mysername/tmp but some files ended up in /var/tmp -- I consider that privacy issue.

When finding fakes/erroneus files right now you need to remember the name of the file to not download it again in the future (and this is a problem for multiple files with the same name.. like 4 fake and 1 good)

Adding the feature to "ignore" the files from future searches could be beneficial.

I think it's enough to check the hash of the file.

0001803: ed2kHelperScript.app needs to be updated for OSX Catalina

ed2kHelperScript.app no longer functions in OSX Catalina due to apple dropping support for 32bit applications. ed2kHelperScript.app is essentially compiled apple script, however the binary that's currently in the Git repo only has PPC and 32bit support

Additionally, even if the original apple script is exported as a 64bit binary, it silently fails, which appears to be down to the use of tell application "System Events" to determine the path to ed2k. I suspect this is down to security changes in Catalina, and is easily worked around

running amulecmd inside a bash-environment. pressing [TAB][TAB] - while amule prompt is waiting for an amule-command - brings up bash-shell-extension to work
