0000468: Invisible entries in search and download menu
There seems to be a problem with translation from utf-8 or something like that. When I do a search, or a download, many results including utf-8 character are not shown at all either in download and search list. I'm using amule 2.0.1 compiled on gentoo linux with wxGTK compiled with +gtk2 an +unicode.
This is a link to a screenshot:

In this sample search, the filename was:

<snipped>.\u4e13\u8f91.(ape).rar

Thanx a lot

Can you try posting the result of "amule --version"?

Cheers,

Here you are:

$ amule --version
aMule 2.0.1 using wxGTK2 v2.6.0 (OS: Linux)

Well, that explains why you wern't getting any uft8 filenames displayed. Your aMule build doesn't have unicode enabled. Did you compile _both_ amule and wxGTK with +unicode?

You can't compile aMule with unicode, Xaignar, it's compiled with unicode if wx is :P

Anyway, que, your wx is not compiled with unicode.

You _can_ compile amule with +unicode. This is because gentoo builds multiple versions of the wxGTK library, and the useflags on the program that uses wxGTK library is used to select which version of the library to use.

That doesn't mean you can compile aMule with unicode. That does mean that gentoo does compile it WITH wx compiled WITH unicode. The fact that your distro does weird things is not my fault. There's no --enable-unicode on aMule's flags.

I never told him to compile aMule "with unicode", I told him to compile aMule "with +unicode", which to people smarter than you is read as compiling aMule with the USE flag "unicode" set. But don't worry, I don't blame you for your ignorance, that is the fault of the horrible distro you use, which is no doubt an atrocity second only to the burning of the great library in terms of dumbing down people. It is clear that we should be forcedly converting the poor fools like you to a proper distro, by which I off course mean Gentoo. Anything else would be a crime in the eyes of Cthulhu!

You try to be dumb, yet you fail - you're too dumb to succeed.

You CAN'T compile aMule with +unicode. You can EMERGE (what a shitty word from a horrible wannabe distro) aMule with +unicode flag. Your sentence was wrong, horrible, stupid, fanatic, and repeat 1000 times the last 4 definitions.

However, is not your fault. Probably the heating produced by compiling every tiny bit of code on your OS with --full-unroll-loops and other amazing flags did melt down the only non-blonde part of your brain.

I am offended by your lack of manners. Frankly only a barbarian would even consider compiling sourcecode without portage, and your insistence on calling it EMERGE clearly marks you as such an uncivilized oaf.

It is perhaps not suprising that an person so utterly wilfully ignorant such as yourself (why else would you use anything else but Gentoo?) would fail to comprehend the subtle beauty of a sentence uttered under the enlightenment granted by Gentoo.

Your crass refusal to acknowledge of my superior position only serves to mark you as what you are, an infidel reveling in the the use of your profane and disgusting distro. Clearly there is no point in expecting you to understand civilized discourse.

As for your rude insinuations about the heat from my constantly toiling CPU overheading my clearly superior mind, I can tell you there is no risk of such an occurrence. Not only does the heat from my CPU serve to drive a cleverly constructed fanning mechanism to keep my brain at a pleasent temperature, it also serves to provide heat to thousands of poor Eskimos living on Iceland, who would otherwise have to suffer in the squalor of their freezing cold Igloos.

Yesterday when I was drinking beers with my friend, a weird looking tentacle guy started talking to me, right after the pink elephant left. He said that he was Cthulhu himself, and he gave me a mission, tell you this:

"Oh, you're not fun anymore."

That was clearly an impostor, cause I have Cthulhu with me right now!

Yeah, I have seen the pics. It's amazing you can't tell the Real Cthulhu from a push toy. It's sad and disturbing at the same time.

Dear user! Learn the enlightment of the debian ways, throw away your gentoo for that's all you need for becoming a real Jedi Master. The Darth Emerge master can't win, for the light side of the force is more powerful in it's own paths than the dark side is.

Like Yoda I do talk not.
