Summary | 0000150: aMule-rc6 causes connection slow down for all local network computers
Description | Hi all. I'm running aMule 2.0.0rc6 on my gentoo box. My computer is a client in a LAN sharing a 1.2MBit DSL connection using a linux gateway. When my notebook is running aMule (even if transfers are limited, or if i have no downloads at all) internet connection slows drastically down (for me and for all the clients in the network). Connection status is restored quitting aMule on my pc. Sorry for my English. Regards, crash.
Additional Information | I upgraded from aMule 2.0.0rc5 (which didn't cause this connection problem).

Very strange issue. IF aMule is not downloading or uploading, how can it slow down the network? did you check overhead traffic? |

Could this have something to do with the non-closing of connections that some people have reported? |

i suspect it's just bad configuration. please check http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/AMule_makes_everything_slow [^] imo, this bug should be marked as fixed |

On the rc7 it can do the same, from what i have seen in the source, it's the 2 seconds interval, in UploadBandwidthThrottler::RunInternal(), what causes this. Bij bringing it down to 400 millis this gives the other pc's a more responcive feeling special if men there a telnet or ssh connection is running. The extra processor power it needs is very little, so reducing _all_ numbers by a factor 5 (except the minFragsize) will do the trick. edited on: 11-21-04 13:39 |

jvandewerken, is this still an issue on a recent tarball? |

crash, Can you try the following? Go to preferences->Connection->Bandwidth Limits, and tell me the numbers in there. Then on the Upload textbox, put half the value of your upload line capacity. I don't know the bandwidth limits of 1.2Mbit ADSL, but I imagine that must be something like 122-down/61-up, so I recomend that you put 100 for download and 30 for upload and a slot allocation of 5 for a start. Please report your results. |
