Summary | 0000806: second UDP-port not adjustable!
Description | Hi, aMule always listenes on the UDP-portnumber which equals (TCP-portnumber + 3). I'm feeling "dominated" by amule. Why does amule not allow me, to specify any port-number i like? And why does amule need two UDP-ports? AFAIK eMule only uses one TCP and one UDP.

This is a requirement of the ED2K network, and we cannot change it without breaking compatibility with existing servers. The two UDP ports are used for different things, the user-definable is for client-to-client communication (including kad) and the +3 port is used for server communication (global searches, etc). |
